The Brief

While working at Goodwood, I was tasked with redesigning both the branding and the website for Goodwood England, the exclusive merchandise and fashion brand that serves the Goodwood estate’s various events. At the time, the brand had a logo but lacked the richness and heritage that Goodwood is known for. The website, in particular, felt flat and disconnected from the estate’s identity. My objective was to integrate the Goodwood estate’s heritage into the Goodwood England branding and create a fully realised e-commerce website that could be built and run on Shopify. The website needed to reflect the estate’s prestige while being user-friendly and functional for online shopping.

The Process

I began the project with user research and user flow diagrams to understand the needs of both the Goodwood audience and the website users. This was followed by wireframing the structure of the site to establish the general layout and navigation. Once the basic framework was established, I progressed into fully detailed mockups and UX designs for all pages, including product pages, checkout flows, and event-specific merchandising areas. The design aimed to blend the classic and romantic feel of Goodwood with a sense of heritage, reflecting the brand’s rich history while maintaining a modern e-commerce experience. Once these designs were finalised, they were handed off to a web developer who began building the site on Shopify, bringing the vision to life.

The Result

The new branding and website design successfully encapsulated Goodwood’s prestigious heritage while offering a seamless, modern shopping experience for users. The design was well-received by both internal teams and stakeholders, and it positioned Goodwood England as a more cohesive, premium brand. My designs set the foundation for an intuitive and aesthetically aligned online store. The project was a significant contribution to elevating Goodwood England’s online presence and aligning it with the estate’s overall brand values.

The Reflection

This project was a great opportunity to apply my skills in branding and UX design to a highly respected and well-known brand. The challenge of balancing heritage with modern e-commerce was a rewarding one, and I’m proud of how the designs turned out. If I were to revisit this project, I’d further explore ways to incorporate interactive and immersive elements into the website to enhance the user experience even more, particularly for customers who are familiar with Goodwood’s events. But overall, I’m confident the design will serve as a strong foundation for the future of Goodwood England’s online shop.
