The Brief

While working at Goodwood, I was tasked with redesigning their press and media website, a platform used by journalists and media personnel to access assets, articles, and imagery related to Goodwood events. The primary goal was to create a minimal, easy-to-use website that allowed internal teams to upload and manage content, while also providing press users with easy access to a wide range of media resources. The website needed to support over 24 brands under the Goodwood umbrella, allowing press materials to be filtered by each individual brand. Additionally, the site had to include an application section where media professionals could register as official press and media partners.

The Process

The project began with user research and mapping out user flows to understand the needs of both internal users (who would upload content) and external press users (who would access it). I focused on creating a streamlined, intuitive user experience with clear navigation paths, making sure that media assets could be easily uploaded, sorted, and accessed. I worked on developing simple and effective UX flows, ensuring the design was user-friendly and could handle the variety of materials from multiple brands. I also designed hero banners with engaging carousels and a clean, minimalist layout to ensure the site was both functional and visually appealing. The filterable sections were key for users to quickly find specific press releases, images, or reports associated with different brands. The final design was responsive, ensuring smooth use on both desktop and mobile.

The Result

The redesigned press and media website successfully met all functional requirements, offering a simple, clean interface for both internal teams and external users. It allowed Goodwood’s press team to easily upload, manage, and share content, while providing media professionals with quick access to the necessary assets. The website’s filtering system allowed for easy navigation across the 24+ brands, and the registration section worked seamlessly to allow press people to sign up for access. The website is still live today and continues to be used by Goodwood. The success of the project was evident in the positive feedback from both internal and external users, who appreciated its simplicity, accessibility, and speed.

The Reflection

This project was a great opportunity to focus on usability and simplicity, creating a platform that serves an essential, yet niche, audience: press professionals. The challenge of keeping the website minimal while ensuring it met all functional requirements was an exciting one, and I’m proud of the clean and intuitive solution we achieved. Seeing the site still in use today is a testament to the effectiveness of its design and its ongoing success in serving both internal and external users.
