The Brief

I was commissioned by Goodwood Racecourse to design a bold, eye-catching social media campaign to promote ticket sales for one of their events. The design needed to stand out visually on social media platforms, grabbing attention quickly and conveying a sense of energy and excitement. The project involved the use of vibrant, fluorescent colours and striking shapes that would really pop on digital screens. The campaign also required some photographic elements, including the mirage-like treatment of the imagery, to enhance the sense of movement and visual interest.

The Process

To begin the design process, I explored the use of shapes that could be ‘exploded’ into bold, fluorescent colours, while incorporating a dynamic photographic style that was slightly surreal in its treatment. The goal was to create something visually unique and modern, with a focus on getting attention immediately as users scrolled through their feeds. After developing the core design, I worked on ensuring the layout was optimised for social media formats, with attention paid to balance and how the text and imagery would play together. The final design was a fusion of bold shapes, bright colours, and engaging photography that worked together to drive excitement and convey the event’s energy.

The Result

Looking back, I’m extremely happy with the outcome of the campaign. The design was bold, different, and effective in terms of driving engagement and ticket sales. If I had the chance to refine it, I would adjust the logo placement, perhaps using just the crescent logo above the content instead of the full Goodwood Racecourse logo. This would have made the design feel stronger and more focused. However, overall, I love how it turned out. I wish I had the opportunity to expand the campaign into a larger series of assets because it was a really exciting project to work on, and I’m proud of how it performed.

The Reflection

The campaign had a fantastic response, standing out on Goodwood Racecourse’s social media platforms and attracting attention from followers. It was particularly successful in driving ticket sales when it was first published. The combination of fluorescent colours and dynamic imagery helped grab the audience’s attention, and the campaign’s boldness made it stand out among other content. The visual identity of the campaign helped increase engagement and interest in the event, leading to a successful promotion overall.
