The Brief

I was approached by Bright Plan Civils, a logistics, construction, and civil engineering company, to help visualise and illustrate a logistics plan for their client Overbury. The project involved creating clear and detailed visuals for two major construction sites in London—City Skyscraper and Oval Village. The client needed a professional, easy-to-understand representation of the logistics plans, which included pathways, obstructions, lifts, roadworks, and other essential components for each construction site. These visuals would be used in a pitch to present the logistics strategy to stakeholders.

The Process

To begin, I sourced and created 3D models of the construction areas for both sites. These 3D files represented the layout of the areas, capturing all relevant spatial and infrastructural details. I then recoloured, rendered, and re-layered these 3D illustrations to fit the logistics context, breaking down the construction zones into manageable, understandable stages. Using Adobe Illustrator, I overlaid the logistics elements such as pathways, obstructions, and other construction-related details on top of the 3D renderings. This allowed me to visually communicate how the logistics plan would evolve throughout different phases of the project. The final outcome was compiled into a detailed presentation document, which helped the Overbury team pitch the project effectively.

The Result

The final presentation was well-received by the client, Overbury, who appreciated the clear, detailed visualisations that conveyed complex logistics information in an easily digestible format. The illustrations were integrated into the pitch and used to help stakeholders understand how the construction process would unfold on the sites. The project was delivered on time, without any revisions, and played a crucial role in the successful pitch to the client.

The Reflection

This project was a great learning experience. It challenged me to refresh my 3D skills and apply them to a field that I had not worked in before - construction logistics. The time constraints were tight, but I was able to meet them while maintaining high standards, which the client appreciated. If I had more time, I would have liked to enhance the visual elements with even more interactive or animated components, but overall, I’m very proud of the result and the positive feedback from Overbury.
